By: Christine E. Ohenewah | A Micro Story About Heartbreak and Regret.

He was grieving what he had destroyed.
He was grieving the ghost of the enamored glow
that would invade her eyes when she gazed at his soul
and heard his silent yearning for light.
He was grieving her prior pleas for him to hold onto their destiny.
A destiny he did not want to believe in.
He was grieving the child-like bravery of the love she held for him;
a love that would tickle, challenge, and embrace him
powerfully and unconditionally.
He had destroyed this part of her.
It was gone now. Broken. Deadened.
So in his grief, he was searching for the ghost
of what he once meant to her…
and what she would never again be for him.
